In just a few short days I am heading off to spend my semester in Maynooth, Ireland! Studying abroad is an exciting time, however I am still unsure about what to expect from the people and places in Ireland. I grew up in a big Irish catholic family so I have Irish roots in my blood, but my Irish-American traditions will likely differ from those practiced in Ireland. I believe that individuals who hold different values than myself will absolutely view the world in various ways, but that is what makes going to a foreign country so exciting! I look forward to experiencing the Irish culture and learning different perspectives that I may not have had in the United States.

Although the world is greatly connected through the Internet, we still have our own values that affect the way we view the world around us. I am excited to share my ideas and beliefs with those who I meet in the coming months. I look forward to experiencing the many centuries of rich history and all that Ireland has to offer. I am glad for the opportunity to learn and grow as a person and then bring my newfound knowledge back home to Rollins.

Céad Míle Fáilte, that’s Irish for “a hundred thousand welcomes” Hi!
