So, I’ll start with the important things.

First off, I’m a year older. I turned 21 on the 21st of February, and I made sure to celebrate it. Ever since I realized I would be turning 21 in Paris, I made a plan to go to an Absinthe Lounge and have my first drink be a taste of the green fairy. It seemed so fancy, how it dripped water out of it’s pretty spout, onto a sugar cube. I was dressed in my best and I went down to La Fee Verte and ordered their best absinthe.

And I did not like it.

I never knew it was licorice. And I’m not a fan of licorice. I slowly drank it, and knew that at least I had a story now. And even more than that, I made a plan for myself, and I did it. So, good on me.

Also, last weekend everyone in the Hollins program took a trip to Marseille, and oh did I love it! Paris has been cold, very cold, colder than this Floridian has ever felt in her life, and I didn’t realize how much I missed the sun until I got to Marseille. I soaked it up! We sat on the bay, feet dangling into the water, and I felt like a plant, spreading out it’s leaves to soak up every drop of sunlight I could.

Marseille was just beautiful. You could feel the Mediterranean vibes all over it. The church at the highest point, Notre Dame de Garde is one of the prettiest things I’ve ever seen, and the natural beauty of the sea peaks is breathtaking.
We also got a local tour guide to show us around, give us it’s history, as well as show us some traditional foods of Marseilles, such as pastis.

And guess what?

It tasted like licorice.

So much seems to happen between these entries, I wish I had the time to write more, but I know by the time I’m done here I could fill a book with it all!
