As one of our mandatory excursion activities, our program went to a medieval town outside of Madrid called Segovia. \u00a0Segovia is located in the province of Castilla and L\u00e9on and is a short hour drive from the city of Madrid. \u00a0When we first arrived there, we walked the various paths in the woods that surrounded the famous castle (as shown in the picture below). \u00a0Afterward, we had a big lunch that included Segovia’s famous\u00a0cochonillo, or little pig. \u00a0To my surprise, it was tender and full of lots of juicy flavors, and we also enjoyed other Spanish delicacies that accompanied the main center of the meal. \u00a0After the lunch, we were given a tour of the Alcazar of Segovia, the royal palace that was built dated back to the 10th century. \u00a0The castle reflects both a gothic and romanesque architecture. \u00a0The tour ended at the top of the palace, where we were pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful view that overlooked the entire town of Segovia. \u00a0Our day ended by walking around the stone streets of Segovia. \u00a0We saw both the Aqueduct and the ancient Walls of Segovia. \u00a0Overall, the trip was both a great learning experience and fun excursion with the entire program.<\/p>\n
