I’ve made lifelong friends, learned about and come to love a new city, gained a renewed respect for theater, art, writing, history, and architecture, filled an entire journal with my thoughts and experiences throughout the process…

I find myself unable to articulate what I wish to because there is simply so much, it seems to be blocking my ability to say anything; flooding my mind in a wonderfully overwhelming way. Let’s see if I can manage to sum it up a bit though.

In the past month, I have seen productions of The Cursed Child, An American in Paris, King Lear (at the Globe!), and went to an encore showing of Benedict Cumberbatch’s 2015 live performance of Hamlet. On Monday I’m off to Wicked, and then Wednesday it’s back to the Globe Theatre for a production of Much Ado About Nothing. As a theater lover, it’s been an absolute dream.

And then there are my classes, which, in three hour blocks, were quite daunting at first; but the time flies by so quickly I find myself disappointed when it’s over each week. We take field trips around the city for inspiration or historical context or just to take in the amazing and diverse culture around us. We have huge discussions and interesting and unique assignments and every day I feel myself learning more.

Each morning I wake up overjoyed to take on the day; to take in another show or pop into the Churchill War Rooms or go to high tea on a Sunday afternoon with my friends, or go to Borough Market and pick out a fresh meal to cook for my flatmates…every day is full of surprises and every day so far has been such an incredible, unbelievable gift. I find myself, at the most random times, stumbling over my own feet as I walk through Kensington Gardens or down Baker Street as it hits me anew: I live in London. And then I can’t stop smiling for the rest of the day.

<figure id="attachment_14617" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-14617" style="width: 225px" class="wp-caption
