Featuring multimedia paintings, sculpture, video, and more,&nbsp;<em>Love Language<\/em>&nbsp;gathers 15 years of the artist\u2019s work in this major survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-brown-color has-text-color has-link-color has-regular-font-size wp-elements-d4e7ef1d2b1336d9db6f8c5ebb12c983\">Dyani&nbsp;White&nbsp;Hawk&nbsp;fuses&nbsp;modern&nbsp;abstract&nbsp;painting&nbsp;with&nbsp;Lakota&nbsp;art&nbsp;forms.&nbsp;With&nbsp;Si\u010dangu&nbsp;Lakota and European American ancestry, and growing up in both communities, White Hawk\u2019s art reflects on her cross-cultural experiences to better understand \u201cthe intricacies of self and culture, correlations between personal and national history, and Indigenous and mainstream art histories.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-brown-color has-text-color has-link-color has-regular-font-size wp-elements-7aea4a4b0a5b6e02a0c01471f17a5c9c\">Co-organized by the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, and Remai Modern, Saskatoon <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/walkerart.org\/calendar\/2025\/dyani-white-hawk-love-language\/\">Dyani White Hawk: Love Language<\/a><\/em> <\/strong> will travel internationally over the next three years, extending Rollins Museum of Art&#8217;s reach to new audiences with the inclusion of <em>Wowa\u010dhi&nbsp;I&nbsp;Dancing<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>Wowa\u010dhi&nbsp;I&nbsp;Dancing<\/em> by Dyani White Hawk<\/strong> <strong>from the RMA Collection<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1014\" height=\"1280\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.rollins.edu\/rma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/WhiteHawk-2024.1.2-Large.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3234\" style=\"width:258px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-regular-font-size wp-elements-b8b078f75a3e426a16bdf20018dca30a\">This work <em>Wowa\u010dhi&nbsp;I&nbsp;Dancing<\/em>, is part of Dyani White Hawk&#8217;s 2023-2024 series&nbsp;<em>Reflection<\/em>, a grouping of&nbsp;paintings,&nbsp;mixed-media works, and&nbsp;a video&nbsp;installation. As a Courier Austin helped with the transport and installation of this engaging work of art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-regular-font-size wp-elements-37eb7646d711b86b778f8b2f3e95a531\">&#8220;Observing Dyani White Hawk speak about the sightlines of her exhibition at the Walker Art Center revealed the depth of her vision \u2014how every perspective in the gallery becomes part of the work\u2019s dialogue.&#8221; &#8211; Austin Reeves, Collections and Exhibitions Manager, Rollins Museum of Art<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Role of A Courier<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-regular-font-size wp-elements-db9b9ac250b94c5bc9846df926e5ebca\">Because objects are at their most vulnerable when being transported, the primary role of a courier is to ensure that artwork travels safely and securely, in accordance with professional museum practices. The courier sometimes accompanies the work to prevent incorrect handling during transport, but in this case, their most significant function is to confirm that there has been no change to the object&#8217;s condition that would necessitate conservation treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-regular-font-size wp-elements-102cec90f0ef9c8f047053735f277c3b\">Before artwork from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollins.edu\/rma\/art-collection\/\">Rollins Museum of Art Collection<\/a> is crated and shipped, Austin conducts a detailed inspection and creates a condition report. Since mishandling, unnecessary movement, or vibrations during transit could damage the artwork, he inspects the piece again once it reaches its destination, comparing its condition to the original report.
