Approximately one month and a week into my study abroad experience in Rome my program got cancelled. I am heartbroken having to leave all my new friends and new home. However, I am happy for the amazing trips to Milan, Pisa, Nice, Barcelona, and Interlaken we got to share together. And the endless consumption of gelato, cappuccinos, pasta, pizza, and most importantly Nutella Biscuits that we ate every night during ‘cookie time’. To be honest, had I stayed in Rome any longer I would have come back twice my size.
The situation sucks for sure, and was nothing close to what I had pictured as my study abroad story but I’m remaining positive. All my credits are going to transfer, I’m gonna go eat some Chipotle right now, I have a ton of new friends and experiences, and I will make it back to Europe to finish my cultural immersion. I know nobody at ISA, AUR, or Rollins wanted to cut our experience short but it had to be done for our safety. I respect their decision and appreciate their care for their students. So with all that being said, Ciao Rome, I’ll see ya when I see ya.
