Who knew he first two weeks of this adventure would fly by so fast?! Fiji was a blast; it was the definition of paradise. The weather was amazing and the water was crystal clear. I met some of the most amazing people that are a part of my program and who would’ve thought that 36 people could get so close in just a few days. I had so much fun hiking up the mountain to see the sunrise, learning how to throw a spear, crack open a coconut, kayaking and paddle boarding, and snorkeling.
Then the whole group was off to Auckland. The city was beautiful and full of life. Our first dinner at a Spanish tapas bar was to die for. We all went out to some bars the next couple days and it was great to just dance and sing with new friends. Some of us even got to do a Skywalk at the top of the Skytower. It was pretty scary at first, but so worth it. On the last day, we headed out to Rotorua to go white water rafting. The water was freezing, but all the layers took care of it. It was definitely the most exciting experience of my life. Not many people get to day they rafted down the tallest commercial waterfall in New Zealand.
As I write this, it’s been about 3 days since I’ve arrived in my flat in Dunedin. I’m still slowly settling in, running errands about the town. I’m extremely stoked to see what’s ahead for this semester and I can’t wait to make some amazing memories.
