Test drive our new trial databases!

It’s that time of year again.  Spring Break, you may ask?  Yes, but it’s also time to trial a new set of databases that Olin Library is considering for purchase.  We have a terrific set of trials this spring, including primary source collections, streaming documentary films, electronic journals, and more.  You can find our list of trials here, and if you scroll down past the list, you will see our trial feedback form.  Please take a few moments to fill out the form each time you test a trial database.  Your feedback helps us decide which resources are most useful and desirable to our campus community.  All trials are set to run until March 31st, so happy exploring!

Tell us what you think of the Olin Library

Your opinion counts!  Beginning March 9th, we will send emails to randomly-selected students, faculty, and staff providing a link to a library service quality survey called LibQual+.  As we plan for the future of Olin Library, it is important that we understand the perceptions and expectations of our campus community so that we can provide the services and resources you need to be successful.  By taking the time to respond to the survey, you will provide essential information for us.  All respondents will receive a coupon for a drink from the Bookmark Café, and you will be entered in a drawing to win an exciting prize!  We would greatly appreciate your help and we thank you in advance for your participation.

Temporary Library System Outage

This Saturday, February 28th, access to library resources will be temporarily unavailable for a period between 6:00 pm and 4:00 am.  Starting around midnight, several other systems including e-mail will also experience intermittent outages.

Information Technology is engaged in ongoing efforts to create a disaster recovery infrastructure for the campus network.  In order to ensure that the recovery system is working properly, IT will need to temporarily shut down several campus systems this weekend, including Blackboard, Banner, Citrix, and Sharepoint.  The library’s proxy server, which allows access to our resources from off campus, will be one of the systems affected by this temporary network downtime.

We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.  If you have any questions about this process, you can contact the IT Help Desk.
