Order of Events

5:00-5:30: REGISTRATION AT CRANES ROOST

#HopefortheSeason Social Media Activity: Memories

Do you miss your loved one? Do you miss talking about all your special times you had with them to others? No one should have to go through grief alone! We encourage you to make a post on Facebook or Instagram. Include a photo of your loved one with your favorite memory of them. Include the hashtag #hopefortheseason at the end of your writing. That way, you can connect your post to a community of others who are right there with you virtually. Make sure to tag New Hope for Kids! You can also preserve your memories of your loved one by making a memory bracelet or a memory box.

5:30 (APPROX.): MUSICAL PERFORMANCE BY MATT SHENK

#HopefortheSeason Virtual Activity: Butterfly Release

A symbol of hope, change, and an emblem of Children’s Grief Awareness Day, butterflies carry a universal meaning for all of us. We invite you to color your own butterfly, construct a tissue paper butterfly, or create a suncatcher butterfly in memory of your loved one. Post a picture of your butterfly to Facebook or Instagram using the #hopefortheseason, and tag New Hope for Kids!

6:00 (APPROX.): BLESSING AND WELCOME SPEECHES

6:30 (APPROX.): WALK AROUND THE LAKE

#HopefortheSeason Social Media Activity: Virtual Walk

Take a walk around your neighborhood or a local park and bring a picture or object that reminds you of your loved one. As you walk, think/talk about your favorite memories of your loved one. If you want to share your walk experience, take a picture or short video on your walk and share it to Facebook or Instagram using #hopefortheseason. Remember to tag New Hope for Kids!

7:15 (APPROX.): CANDLE LIGHTING

#HopefortheSeason Virtual Activity: Candle Lighting

You might not be able to join us physically, but you can still participate in the community candle lighting using #HopefortheSeason. On Facebook or Instagram, post a picture of your child/ family holding a candle and include a comment in honor of your loved one. Alternatively, you can post of video: light your candle, say something in honor of your loved one, and pass the candle to a family member. You can end the video by passing your candle out of the video frame, to symbolize sharing the light of hope with our larger New Hope for Kids family on social media. If you don’t feel comfortable being visible, just post a picture of your candle! You can also decide to create, decorate, and share your own lantern for hope. Make sure to tag New Hope for Kids!
