My theory class is centered around four big questions of sociological theory (e.g., “What is the character and challenge of modernity?” “What is the relation between society in the individual?”). We finished reading our first theorist (Marx) on Tuesday.
Today, I used the four moveable boards and put one question on each. Then the students moved around and wrote Marx’s contributions/answers to these questions. After the boards were filled, we did the gallery walk to examine and discuss (and underline) things on each board. Then I took pictures of the boards and posted them on Canvas. (That last piece is from Lucy Littler.)
They will do this for each theorist, and then their take home midterm will have them choose two of the questions and compare the three theorists on it.
